Ultra-Wideband(UWB) Diplexer

UWB diplexer designed and developed at Finash Technologies covers two frequency bands S-band and S-band. Its Channel 1is of  1300 MHz bandwidth of (2.9-4.2 GHz) and channel2  of 1500 MHz bandwidth ( 4.5-6GHz). Inter-channel isolation≥60 dB and input power at input of each channel port is 200watt. Filters of 13th order complies the isolation requirements, therefore the overall order of the diplexer is 26. Finash Technologies may be first company to commercially offer UWB diplexer with such stringent specifications.

Both channels are of wide bandwidth,  the common junction has  to excite 2.9-6 GHz bandwidth, is not possible to achieve using the  conventional T-junctions or resonating node commenly discussed in the literature, an innovative T-junction is proposed that can excite very wide-band and the diplexer has been designed based on it.

Measured Results of UWB Diplexer

Upon costumer’s new requirements of reduced insertion loss and some relaxation in isolation the diplexer was redesigned and fabricated. The resonator size was increased, the new diplexer was quite large, Length :415mm (including connectors), width: 55 mm, height: 36 mm. As the structure was quite long, the diplexer was manufactured using brass material and then silver plated. The weight of a single unit is around 2Kg.

Measured Performance of 2nd Diplexer

  • *Return loss :(RL) is slightly higher at a few points, RL is sensitive for even cable bending, as the unit is long17 in, some bending in cable has effect in variation of RL

  • **Insertion loss: Compensation of loss 0.15 dB of adapter pair has been applied
